Our shoot was this monday. We first focused on the performance in the morning. we had the band standing in the set of a hotel room. However without a bed or a table, etc. We replaced these object with the instruments and microphones for the band. We got the band in this set because we wanted to make out that the narrative and the performance are in the same place but the band are the imagination of the people next door in the narrative. We had the band in dark denim clothing, with eye make-up on to bring out a rocky look. As a whole the group all worked together and focused on different aspects of the shoot. For example, Izzy Boddy did a lot with the camera at the beginning then everyone had a go on the dolly to film the tracking shots we wanted to have. Will Edgely did a lot with the lighting and the camera, Abi Douetil did a lot with the direction of the shoot and she also had an involvment with the camera. I focus on the music of the shoot and also had some involvment with the direction of the shoot. The tracking shots we used were to bring the effect of showing what is going in one room and what is going on in the other room.
In the afternoon we then focused on the narrative, and it went better than we all thought it would go. We got the girl to put a big shirt on and the boy in simple trousers and a t shirt. The first shot we did was a wide shot on the hanging. We did a few shots of this, getting close ups of Jake Cecil our actor, tieing the rope tighter, and a close up of Molly our other actors's face while she is being hung. We then moved onto the kicking of the chair. After the hanging we focused on the use of the clingfilm. Instead of the boy doing offences towards the girl this time we are having the girl taking over at this point. So we did a few wide shots , close ups of this and our main shot for this scene was another tracking shot on the dolly. The last thing we did was have the lead singer come back and sing the opening of the song. He sits on the bed and we got him to then walk over to listen up against the wall to hear what is going on next door at a certain part of the song. This is showing that the singer is telling the narrative of what is going on next door. This whole ending is the idea of why we used tracking for this scene to show that the two actions are going on at the same place.
Here are some pictures I took on the day of filming the live performance.
This image is to show you part of the set up of filming the performance of our music video. Showing where we placed the pianist, the base player, the drummer and the singer. The guitar was placed on the other side of the base player having both guitars on either side of the singer.
Here is another image of the base player. However in this photo we can see the position of the camera and how we were filming it. So we see off the set and on the set.
Here is an example of one of the close up we did on the guitar, but on the big screen to show you an idea of what our video will look like from the camera's point of view. On the screen the lighting was a lot darker then seeing it off the camera in action. So this shows the effects of the camera.
Here is another example of one of the close ups we were doing on the guitar. This images has been taken even closer to the other one.
Here is an image of the lighting system we used. Although this image is not that clear, I decided to show you how we used our lighting. The two buttons at the bottom left we used to change from the spot light to the big lights when all the instruments came in.
Here is a close up of the camera we used and you can see if you look closely how we could see what is going on through the camera with the little screen on the camera. In this image we want to show you how close we got to the what was going on in the set to create the type of shot we wanted to get. This shot was a close up.
