I chose this because i thought the music for this was really well done by have dramstic music it built up to the major bits of this sequence. The colouring was dark so this made it clear what the genre of film this is. Monatge sequence was used in this trailor to build up tension and quick cuts were also used to tell us that it was an action piece. The way the people looked in this trailor also told us the genre.

I chose this because i thought that the music in this clip was really well done. Without the music i wouldn't think that the film was a thriller. This is because the whole set is beautiful mountains and the countryside, but when we hear the dramatic sinister music i realized the genre of the film. so i liked this because it didn't bring out the genre in a obvious way. it was subtle. I also saw that it was a triller by seeing that there was only one car driving through the deserted road in the middle of the foerest. This brought out the idea that the people in the car were no their way to something dangerous.

clips of thriller/horror movies

I chose this part of 'What Lies Beneath' because i thought the sound in this scene was really well done by them not having much sound at the begining, and then dramatic music to build up to what will eventually happen at the end of this scene. i also liked the colouring of this scene. they made it dark, with a blue tint of lighting. This gave us the idea of what genre of film this is just seeing this sequence. The camera shots in this include over the sholder shot, to show us what she is seeing in the bath, this shows us how she is feeling and it also tells us that something fearful is about to happen. The camera also focuses on just her feet at one point which makes us more curious of whats happening because we cannot see above her. Eyeline match is used in this scene also to once again show us what she is seeing.

Thriller/horror films

We have been asked to think up 4 ideas of what we want our thriller/horror movie to be about. and once we have picked one of these idea we have to write 200 words on it.

1. a pale looking doll, who comes to life and haunts children who have seen death in their life. he shows the children their memories of the past, the horror they experience and eventually possesses the children and they end up killing the people they love and then them ending up killing themselves. The ages the children are is around 10.

2. An old mental hospital where a few teenagers go and hang out for fun, but this place has something strange about it. one girl oout of all the teenagers, starts to see strange things, lights flicker, they end up getting trapped in the hospital and as time goes on more things start to get suspicious. this girl starts to see shadows which are not meant to be there, she starts to see flickers of different, unknown faces, all the faces are pale spooky looking faces, they end up being goasts of people who died in the mental home 100 years ago. one goast ends up getting to this girl and trys to take over this girls body. there is a twist in this movie.

3. a circus- there have been murders around this town near the circus, the poilice are trying to find out the mystery but cannot work it out. it turns out to be a clown who is murdering these people, he looks like a good guy, but turns out to be a bad guy.
4. a desease comes over the world, where all the children catch this desease and get seriously dangerous, the desease is that they are constantly angry and all they want to do is kill. they try and take over the world...

The one i have chosen is the mental hospital. My idea of this Mental hospital is that a group of teanagers aged around 16-18 go to this deserted hospital to use this place for a place to chill out and smoke and drink. Once they all enter the building the door slams behind them. there are a few lights on at this time. While the lights are on one of the kids called Sarah hears something, she asks "whos there?" as soon as she says that everything becomes pitch black and the audience will not be able to see anything. However, while the blackout is occuring there are noices going on in the background. suddenly a scream and the lights turn back on again. The kids check that everyone is there and realizes someone is missing. "wheres Sarah?" One of the guys slowly scans the room with a torch and sees Sarah in the corner. She had blood dripping down her face, shes turned zombie like, and she is pointing to something behind the group. the group looks behind them and a sudden scream. this ends the first few minutes of my film

Prelim Post Production Blog

The purpose of continuity editing is to establish the logical coherence between shots. It also is to smooth over the inherent discontinuity of the editing process. It is very important to follow a specific film language because it ensures that only the relvent story points are shown. this is to minipulate time and space in the narrative, to basically force the audience to identify with the right characters, this is to make sure that the story line is clear and that it makes sense to the audience.

for our editing we had the task to do logging shots. So we had to choose the appropriate for our film, from our various takes of each angle. The reason why rejecting and selecting the different shot choices is important is because we had to match each of our scenes together correctly to make it clear to the audience what is going on in our storyline. And so the scenes we selected were the best scene we managed to do and so that would make our project better and the ones we rejected were the scenes which did not make sense. and the scenes, which were not done very well and so if we did not reject them they would make our project a confusing piece and so we had to reject those particular shots. so rejecting and selecting shots was to let us find our best fit of the takes. So we didn't do this to just have the overall best example, we wanted it to make sense and we wanted to make the scenes fit together well.

When we organised our shots we made sure they fitted to the story line. This was very important because we had to make our film interesting and for it to make sense to the audience. so we selected are shots to best tell our story. We focused on who had the most camera time to show who was the main part of this filming and we used close ups to show the acters expression to also make the audience more interested in the storyline. these things determined the storyline in a clear way.

So while we organised our shots we had to put our shots in order to also make the storyline clearer. So certain shots had to be put into order to explain the continuity and how it controls the story and information. We put shots in order because we also wanted to show link to something in our story.

Finally we did our final cutting. This was to add on dramatic effects to the storyline. We use a montage sequence between the two people speaking to eachother to create tension in the scene. We cut to people in different areas to show where they were and what they were doing. So we cut from both characters speaking to one persons mouth to create a dramatic build up to what may happen next.
